When was the last time you splurged on a couple of bras or pair of fancy underwear? As much as we love shopping, we sometimes tend not to shop for new underwear as often as we should. Simply Be’s Bra Humbug campaign is just perfect especially as you’ll be shopping for your sisters, wives and friends this Christmas. Or for yourself, why not!
Even those with the proudest lingerie collections actually only circulate between the same three on average. So even when we do replenish our bra supply, we tend to hold on to our good ol’ favourites. Or is it just me…?
So why do we cling on to old favourites? Well, a good bra is hard to find and when we find that one bra that doesn’t poke us, come undone in public, ride up our backs or make our shoulders sore; it is only normal that we hold on to them.
Do you have a favourite bra? Mine is my T-shirt padded balcony bra from M&S. It is just a beautiful basic bra. It has the perfect lift and my ‘girls’ rest perfectly on the balcony without spilling out… :/ It smells like home and just like wine, it gets and feels better with time.
But clearly, it’s time to let it go.
Not that we need reasons to, but here’s a few reasons why we need to stack up on intimates more frequently:
- They are constantly in direct contact with our bodies throughout the day. Which means bras straps and cups accumulate the most sweat and dirt and need to be washed after every 3-5 wears.
- Because they are mortals. Yes, even our favourite pair will need to retire some day. When bras have been over worn, the elastic becomes looser and the shape of the bra moulds to that of your boobs. This means that it’s no longer offering the support you need. Unfortunately for ladies graced with a larger bosom, this can happen faster as bigger bras are working harder. You should look to change after nine months max. Plus we all know that the perfect bra is the foundation of a great outfit…
- Because accidents and wardrobe malfunctions happen. If you blouse were to pop a few buttons in public one day, you’d want to be confident in the bra you were wearing…
Do you have any bras you’re holding on to? Why are they your favourite bra?
Get into a chestive spirit and ring in in the new year with a fresh new set!
Happy holidays!
