OOTD: Square Holes

You must be sick by now of my excuses of where I’ve been, why I’ve been where I’ve been, what I’ve been up to and yada yada. Frankly, I am too. I have no excuse but damn pure laziness and cuddling-weather which makes me want to lie in all day and watch back to episode of my favourite tv shows (ie Peep Show and Modern Family). How I manage to get up every morning and make my way through the fog to work is a miracle entirely. I swear, I wish I could call in and say, I’ve broken a nail, I can’t turn up today. And that would be the honest truth! Like frankly, don’t you have days when the silliest of things just make you feel like lying in and wallowing in your self-pity with only tubs of ice-cream and reruns of project Runway to comfort you? …

I have been off blogging for weeks now but Style Diary is back to put everything ack on track. Today’s fashionista hails from Haiti.

My name is Klerlie Raymond. I am 100% Haitian, raised my whole life in Miami, Fl. I love to shop; I love thrifting, reading, blogging and anything that involves a margarita or a glass of wine.

-My dressing style is very vintage. Most of my clothes and very unique pieces come from thrift stores. I also shop in stores like Forever 21 and H&M for common pieces such as jeans, camis, etc. My style influences are bohemian chic and vintage.

OOTD: All Black Errthang

As colourful as I might seem, I do love me some neutrals and black is defo one of my favourite colours. I mean come on, who doesn’t love black? First off, do you know that black goes well on EVERYBODY? Now, that’s what I call unbiased.

We all know a few things about black, like the fact that it is slimming and everyone needs a little black dress in their closet.

But do you know that black is the most fashionable colour? Scratch that. Black IS fashion. Ever heard of the snowclone phrase, X (insert any colour) is the new black? The colloquialism “X is the new black” is a reference to the latest trend or fad that is considered a wardrobe basic for the duration of the trend, on the basis that black is always fashionable.

Beauty: Plummed-Up Lips

There is no question that when it comes to putting outfits together, women of colour are embracing colour. I mean serious colour. I am living proof. But the question remains that when it comes to their makeup, are women of colour or dark-skinned women that experimental? Yes it is true that dark-skinned women love to stick to the basic red, glossy or pink lip colours.  The bolder bunch would experiment with ‘loud’ ‘garish’ or ‘shouty’ tones. But are any many going out of their comfort zones to try new shades?

I’d say, to certain degree, yes. Social media has become very influential in the past few years. Many girls nowadays, use these outlets (Tumblr, Facebook, WordPress, Instagram, Twitter, Lookbook, YouTube etc) as a source of inspiration or even consultation if  can call it that and because of this are becoming quite more confident with trying out new trends …

OOTD: Handpicked

Hey dolls. I must apologize for the silence and absence of my OOTD posts thereof. I guess the last few days of the summer are taking a toll on me. I have been down with the flu and have not been able to compose a proper post. To add fuel to the fire, my laptop is still not working. I swear you never know how much your life rotates around that piece of equipment until it tires and shuts down (hope not for good in my case).  I have been through several stages since then. At first I was relaxed and sure that it was only a little hiatus. Then I got worried. And angry. After a couple of days I was panicking. I am finally calm and have accepted that sometimes in life, we are too caught up in something so much that the only way we can ‘snap …

Style Diary: Gloria O

I have been dying to put up this diary but I had to save it for Friday. Gloria is good and knows her stuff when it comes to style. Her refreshing blog has inspired me over and over. Having her diary featured on ABY (Art Becomes You, do I need to spell it out?) was a must. Now that it’s finally here, let’s not waste any time but delve straight into it.
Hi! My name is Gloria. Born in Nigeria but raised and living in England. I’m a recent graduate, still job hunting but working part-time as a sales assistant. My main interest at the the moment is my personal style blog http://journeyofstyle.blogspot.co.uk/, which I started recently with the purpose on keeping an eye on how my style changes over time.

OOTD: Strapped For Life.

By Posted on 5 1.3K

Happy Monday fashion lovers! First off I’d like to say thanks a bunch to all the readers. You’re far too kind. I’m amazed at the feedback. Thank you very much. Every single comment or feedback in any form is appreciated by me. Thank you for giving me the drive to keep this blog alive.
How was the closing ceremony weekend for everyone? I don’t know about you, but the whole ceremony just made me feel a little homesick. I am one of those people who love it when there’s something on TV that the whole world is hyping about. I’ll just generally miss the hype. Well, now that it’s over I guess we can look forward to the Paralympics and for the more dedicated TV watchers amongst us, Celebrity Big Brother. Hahaha, can’t wait. I do love a good grind.
For my outfit of the day , I decided to take …

OOTD: Mama Taught Me Best

By Posted on 13 788

You know your Mom is your Personal Stylist when:
-Every Sunday while you’re in the shower getting ready for church, she is busy preparing your ‘church wear.’
-Every time you’re about to just step out of the house, she will lower the bulletin/paper she had been reading. pull down her reading glasses, squint her eyes as if she is not sure whether she is looking at her own daughter or the neighbour’s dog and say; “Is that how you’re going out?”
-Every time she returns from the market she has bought you a bunch of clothes which she will present to you and say;  “I bought you some ‘correct clothes.’ No be that your girls things them.”
-Every time you’re both out shopping, she will squint at every mini skirt or strapless top that your eyes wander over.
One time we were leaving for church and we were almost running late. …
