Red Carpet Review: 8th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

8th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon

Award season is just getting started and my fingers are tense with excitement to write about who wore what. The Oscars will take place on Sunday 22 February and after the show will be the numerous after parties. But before the show, there’s still a lot of partying going on. Lawd, do these people ever snooze? I hope not, their life my entertainment, eh. 😉 I love nothing more than a black women ball. The 8th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon went down a few hours ago. Let’s dig into the ‘fits of the evening:

Great choice Vogue! I’ll definitely be grabbing a copy. Will you?

Read an excerpt here:

…Lupita’s childhood, though privileged, was hardly settled. Her father, Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, a political-science professor, opposed the government of Daniel arap Moi, whose turbulent presidency lasted 24 years. Nyong’o’s brother “disappeared,” and Nyong’o was eventually self-exiled to Mexico, where Lupita was born in 1983. (Her name, in the symbolic Luo tradition, is a play on the word luo itself, which means “to follow,” and Peter is her father’s name, so that run together they suggest “I followed Peter to Mexico.” Lupita …

Sizzling Sightings: Lupita Nyongo’o, Solange Knowles, Emma Roberts, Rihanna, Samuel Jackson, Beyonce and More!

By Posted on 1 1.7K

It’s Spring and the sightings are getting more colourful, fun and bolder!

Today’s hot sightings include a mix of casual and high end sightings. Who sizzled and who fizzled? Let’s get cracking!

Lupita Nyongo’o made a great comeback after her latest flop at the CFDA 2014 Awards. Homegirl was shining like a morning star on Day 1 of the 2014 Maui Film Festival At Wailea. She paired a bold Calvin Klein tri-colour pencil dress with a pair of colourful strappy heel sandals. Colour blocking well done. Every element is working for Lupita here. No hair extensions, no bright eyeshadow. Just Lupita. I love this.

Emma Roberts was also at the event and I was in love with her white …

Happy new month ABYers! As we step into a new month, I pray that you achieve your goals, set even higher ones, find happiness, stay healthy and remain as closer to God as ever. May you have a richly blessed month. Sealed with riches.

I’ll start off this Monday by recapping some of our favourite celeb looks from last week and over the weekend.

Say what you want about Beyonce‘s new braids but she knows she looks hot in them! She posted even more pictures on her Tumblr of her latest adventures. She was spotted leaving an office building in Manhattan in a Mary Katranzou slipper print dress. The belted waist seems to be latest trick. To whit, she added a crop print belt to the dress. A statement necklace and croc bowling bag completed her look. You feeling this? …

Gallery: The 2014 Met Gala

The 2014 Met Gala has the best red carpet show-stopping dresses in my opinion. So I have been waiting for the juicy sightings. I’m giving you the scoop a little late today because it’s my birthday y’all!!! And the Met Gala went down last night so I missed the blow by blow. I haven’t got much time for a detail analysis of the outfits (just too many darn people showed up at the met Gala! LOL) so I’ll just use monosyllabic phrases and adjectives to say what I feel these red carpet looks. Let’s dig in:

Beyonce in Givenchy – Queen.

Jay Z – on point.

Naomi Campbell in Givenchy – She can do no wrong.

Sizzling Sightings: Lupita Nyongo in Giambattista Valli Floral Skater Dress at Marie Claire’s Cover Stars Party

By Posted on 2 1.3K

Lupita Nyongo’o is sporting curls! The new face of Lancome, looked the part in a Spring-perfect Giambattista Valli Fall 2013 Couture floral embroidered flare dress. The blue flowers actually pop out of the fabric which adds to its beauty. Metallic Christian Louboutin pumps and girly pink lips finished off her look.

This girl has a TWA but is more versatile with her styling than I am. Fab! I am in love with this look.

Other faces at the party:

Naya Rivera

Camilla Luddington

Jordana Brewster

Sarah Hyland

Arrivals at the 86th Annual Academy Awards:

Lupita Nyongo’o came to win in a Prada ‘Nairobi’ blue deep V-neck gown.

A glowing Kerry Washington blew me away in an aubergine coloured wrap dress by Jason Wu.

Jada Pinkett-Smith looked super feminine and pretty in a blush pink halter number.

Jessica Biel looked resplendent in a Chanel Couture column gown. Tiffany & Co. jewellery added sparkle to her look.

Kate Hudson was one of my favourites of the night …
