“Give a girl the right shoe and she can conquer the world.” Marilyn Monroe was right; a shoe can make or break an outfit, whether it’s for that important pitch at work or a glamorous night on the town. What we wear from the ankle down can make a huge difference to how confident we feel, so it’s worth spending a bit of time and money to get your shoes right. Here’s a guide to what to wear for work, rest and play.
1. The Classic Pump
Also known as the court shoe. Court shoes are a classic for the very reason that they are timeless. Wear them to work on days when you’re feeling quite bossy and in control or recycle them for tea parties and wedding parties. Score one in black, nude and every other colour!
2. The Kitten Heel
I’m yet to own a pair of kitten heel shoes but I’m beginning to fall in love with them. The only thing stopping me is my height! I need all the help from six inches I can get, lol. But I find that kitten shoes are perfect for the office. Or for days when we just need a break from 6 inch heels. They can be hard work! We all want to make an impression at work, but when it comes to footwear comfort is crucial. And this doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. Smart work tunics and wide-legged trousers look fantastic with soft leather flats, ballet pumps or brogues — neutral colors will complement a muted office wardrobe.

3. The Ankle Boot
Perfect for a chic yet sexy first date…Knowing what to wear for a first date is one of the greatest style dilemmas. If you’re going casual with skinnies and a figure hugging knit, team with a pair of calf length boots for a subtle but sexy look.
4. The Walkabout Flat
Think long walks and holidays! Be it a pair of pretty, jewelled sandals, brogues, ballet flats or moccasins. flats are ideal for day-time moseying. A trusted pair of comfy flats for trekking around markets or walking along the beach is always a must-have.
5. The Ultra Sexy Strappy Heel
Perfect for dates when you feel like dressing it up a little with sling-backs, a great addition to girly skirts, dresses or lace. Or for weddings and dress up parties. It’s worth choosing shoes for a party or wedding, because shoes for women in these situations are as important as the outfit itself. This is when you can go wild with colour — colour match or daringly clash with the color of your dress, and use the excuse to go high on the heels.
Enough to inspire you to give your shoe rack an overhaul? Once you start looking, it’s easy to get lost in the world of shoes, but smart fashionistas will always keep in mind the occasion and buy accordingly. Remember, if the shoe fits, it doesn’t mean it will always fit with your wardrobe. Unless of course they’re simply fabulous, in which case grab them. After all, we all need a wildcard pair in our closet, ha!

March 27, 2015Those white flats Taraji is wearing are life upon life!!!!
Being more of a tomboy myself I’d say:
1. Combat Boots because I live in these
2. Classic Oxford Flat Shoe because I can’t do the “sabrina” style flat. My feet just don’t agree with them
3. Nike Sneakers because my casual look is always a “just got out the gym” chic
4. Classic Stiletto like the classic Louboutin stiletto
5. Platform Heel just because I love the severity sort of say of the so called “stripper heel”, so a bit of a platform in the front and a thick heel in the back to give off that “amazonian” strong woman vibe.

March 27, 2015I love ankle boots, but they’re so so so hard for short girls–I stick to heels most of the time 🙂

March 30, 2015Love these – I don’t know about 5 shoe essentials, but I almost always have difficulty finding classic flats that I love. Same “problem” with being short. At 5′ 3″, I need all the height I can get! Though I’ve been in love with my Chelsea Boots and Mules lately. For Spring and Summer, my must haves are still TBD. 🙂
