HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018! As we ring in the new year, I’m hoping to be more blown away by the fashion choices this year. 2017 was a little bit meh if I’m being honest 🙁 However, some red carpet dresses did not fail to leave their mark. Here are my favourite dresses form 2017:
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan In Michael Cinco Couture – ‘Okja’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere
We are all little girls who dream of being princesses at heart. Aishwarya Rai swept into the Cannes Film Festival screening of ‘Okja’ in a stunning baby-blue Michael Cinco Couture ball gown that was absolutely out of this world breathtaking. The skirt on this dress alone could not fit into many picture frames. It was voluminous, surreal and gorgeous!
Rebecca Hall in Armani Privé – Vinice Film Festival
Rebecca Hall kept it edgy yet glam at the Venice Film Festival opening ceremony in an Armani Privé asymmetrical dress. The number boasted black sequins and multicoloured dangling paillettes. That dramatic neckline was everything.
Jourdan Dunn in Naeem Khan – amfAR Gala in Milan
One thing I love about this dress is that it gave me Nefertiti vibes with all those beautiful gold and bronze embellishments against her dewy glowing skin. So stunning.
Sonam Kapoor in Elie Saab Couture – Cannes Film Festival
Sonam Kapoor was a vision in a gold princess gown by Elie Saab Couture at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer.’ She always slays so I am not at all surprised at how radiantly elegant this red carpet appearance was.
Celine Dion In Stéphane Rolland Couture – 2017 Billboard Music Awards
Celine had so many stylish moments in 2017 but for my absolute favourite I’ll go with this dramatic Stephane Rolland couture white column dress for her performance at the Billboard Music Awards. #Queening.
Zendaya in Moschino – Australian premiere of ‘The Greatest Showman’
Zendaya Coleman was born for red carpet! She never disappoints. I had so many of her dresses to pick from but this strapless butterfly-print gown by Moschino at Australian premiere of ‘The Greatest Showman’ was definitely one of the best style moments of 2017.
Olivia Culpo in Zuhair Murad – Golden Globes
Olivia had me shook with this look. She dropped jaws at the Golden Globes in a painterly-print cutout ball gown by Zuhair Murad Couture. EVERYTHING was perfection. From the hair, to the makeup, accessories… The beaded detail on that dress and the baroque inspired print was phenomenal. I would wear this in a heartbeat. She wore this look so early in 2017 (7 January 2017) that everyone seems to have forgotten it. But it’s one of my all time favourite red carpet looks. Slay Olivia, slay!
Blake Lively in Versace – Met Gala
Blake Lively is one of my style queens. Obviously I had to have a favourite! She was a vision in a gold chain dress that featured a blue feathered tail at the 2017 Met Gala. This could have easily gone wrong or looked too tacky but Blake absolutely pulled it off. I LOVE!
Joan Smalls in Zuhair Murad – Harper’s Bazaar Icons
Sheer dresses maybe overdone but Joan Smalls gave me fever in this number. I just couldn’t help it! She smouldered in a sheer feathered hem gown by Zuhair Murad Couture at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons event. That BODAY!
Kate Bosworth in J. Mendel – Vanity Fair Oscar party
What I love about this look is that this shade of seafoam green is not flattering on many skintones. Especially very pale people. But here is Kate Bosworth looking every bit poised, elegant and absolutely breathtaking in this simple tulle J. Mendel number. She looks AMAZING. That jewellery complements this looks so much as well.
