It is lovely to be able to pack everyone up and enjoy a day at the beach. There is no better place to relax, read and enjoy a bit of people watching. It also feels good to put on a swimming costume and get some sun.
I don’t really swim, especially not in the sea, but I still own quite a lot of beachwear. Feel me? Lol! Most years, I give into temptation and buy something new. These days, I am spoilt for choice.
Retailers like simplybe.co.uk stock hundreds of costumes in sizes 10 to 32 and their range includes several interesting styles that are really worth trying. Here are a few examples of what I mean:
Tankinis have been around for a few years now, and they are becoming increasingly popular. They are two-piece swimming costumes, but many of them look very much like a one-piece. Usually, they consist of a pair of high-waisted bikini briefs combined with a top that sits on the hips.
This style of swimwear is really flattering and offer fantastic freedom of movement. Plus, best of all, some retailers allow you to buy the tops and briefs separately. For me, this is especially good news because I often struggle to find swimwear sets that fit. Often a costume fits fine around the waist and hips but is a size too small in the bust area 🙁
Swim dresses are starting to make a bit of a comeback. Usually, this style of swimming costume consists of two layers of material. The bottom layer of fabric is fashioned into a regular one-piece, so it fits like a glove and stays in place. Stitched onto that is a light layer of swimming costume style material that is styled as a mini dress.
If you are a bit self-conscious of your hips this style of swimwear is ideal for you because it skims over that area. Potentially you will not have to get changed for your walk from the beach. In some countries, this is necessary because sadly, swimwear cannot be worn in the street.
Shapewear is becoming increasingly popular. It is a great way to smooth things out, so you can create a nicer silhouette. If you want to you can buy swimwear that has shaping panels built in. It looks good and provided you buy the right type still allows you plenty of freedom of movement.
If you have never bought shapewear before, I suggest you read this article before you go shopping. Doing so will ensure that you get the fit right and do not end up feeling uncomfortable because your swimwear holds you in too tightly.
