I often get emails from readers about outfits and hair ideas but I usually respond to them individually. Some of the questions are quite similar and I figured it’d be a good idea to make a post out of these questions so others can benefit too! So let’s kick off with this question from Miranda which reads:

Hi Mrs Art Becomes You! Please help me out. We are having a fancy work dinner party and I really want to bring my A game on. Lol. I usually don’t over dress up for work but this dinner I want to make an impression. There’ll be people from our other office branches so it’s HUGE.

Okay Mimi! I gotcha. Hehehehe. I’ve ransacked the internet and I’ve come up with some ideas which are work friendly yet chic and modern for a fancy work party like yours.

Look 1

Seeing as you love skirts, I’ve picked this gorgeous colourblock split whose black and white theme is very well in season. Pair it with a subtle print top. Add some sex appeal (single mama 😉 ) with a pair of stiletto sling backs. Nothing beats that. A bright tote should add some playful tones to your ensemble.

Look 2

I know you love skirts but these high-waisted trousers rule! It’s a work event so I’m keen on maintaining a soft yet imposing black and white colour palette. This striped blouse from Nelly is the bomb and it’s only £20! A pair of stunning caged heels should let everyone know you’re here to leave your mark and have a good time.

Look 3

Another colourblock skirt. But this time you’re keeping things interesting with the asymmetrical hemline. I would personally rock this ensemble with the printed caged heels but the strappy pumps looked so good as well so you’re spoilt for choice. A pop of bright makeup and that snazzy necklace should keep you in play.

Look 4

A green wrap dress? What? Yes, I insist. Jessica from Suits wore a similar wrap dress to work and I was just in awe. Trust me wrap dresses are sheep in wolf’s clothing. They look harmless but they’re not. They hug you in just the right areas and expose the right and acceptable amount of cleavage. Score! What better than nude accessories to match such a statement dress.
