Hey ABYers, I know this post is way overdue but underestimated motherhood and how much it was going to change my life…
But it’s always better to be late than never come through at all so here goes…
If you’ve been following the blog you’ll know from all the bump update posts that I should have had the baby by now. Well I have. Exactly 4 weeks ago. I’ve just not had the strength to update my blog. I lied. I could have easily updated the blog but I’ve just been too busy obsessing over our newest addition and snacking on Galaxy Smooth Milk chocolate all day. The latter
is becoming has become a real addiction. Is there such a thing as a post-partum craving? Because lately I’ve consuming worrying amounts of those Galaxy chocolate bars (we’ll worry about shedding the baby weight later).Right now I’m in chocolate heaven…
Anyhoo, back to what matters.
I’ll keep it short too.
Baby was exactly 15 days days late so my pregnancy lasted 42 weeks + 1 day. I guess I had it coming seeing as I am never early 🙁 I had sworn I couldn’t do a day over 40 weeks but this little man had other plans. I was OVER it all by the time I was induced. It was TOUGH. Whoooo, Lord. This picture says everything.
I thought because I was being induced, I would be mentally ready for the contractions and therefore they would be less painful. Boy was I in for a shock. Nothing can prepare you for it. You expect labour to be painful but you can never know how MUCH until you face it. I was in so much pain I started praying for myself. Hahahahahaha! Also, baby was so cosy he wasn’t too keen on been born either. Induction commenced on Sunday but this baby was only delivered on Wednesday. That’s how darn LONG it took. And I was having contractions throughout. By day 3 I thought, we might as well just move into hospital and get cosy seeing as it was quickly becoming our new residence. URGGHH.
Leslie Alexander was born (finally) on 23 November. Little man had obviously been cooking in the womb for too long that when he was born and got so big that when he was delivered, the doctor announced; ‘You have a toddler.’ Which absolutely cracked me up. I think I’ve told just about everyone and Leslie will hear of it once he’s old enough to understand grammar. LMAO. Yes, he weighed 9.5lbs and was 59cm long.
He was (is) obviously the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and I was beyond emotional. During the longest and most painful 3 days of my life, I had promised myself that I would teach baby a lesson once he was born. But how could I? Obviously no one ever means anything they say when they’re high on gas and air. I mean look at his cute little face! As soon as he was put in my arms I was in love.
1 day old – Look who’s captured Daddy’s heart 🙂
2 weeks and pulling his favourite face…
3 weeks – Mummy has started feeling funky again 😉
4 weeks. This breastmilk connoisseur is now at 11lbs and looking all grown already.
They grow up so fast! Before we know we’ll have to start baby-proofing the house when he starts walking and next thing you know he’ll be talking about moving out.
We attempted to veer into the vlogging world whilst I was pregnant and I’ve only just managed to upload the video. I know. Such tardiness is unacceptable…. URGHH. Still I need your feedback. How did we do? Should we do more of these? I’ll definitely try to do more hair tutorials 🙂
PS: I’m no MUA so… let’s not comment on my techniques y’all 😉
Hope you enjoyed this life update. I thought I’d slide it in there before the madness of Christmas and New Year hits. Stay safe during the holidays and above all remain blessed.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I know ours will be super special as it’s Leslie’s first Christmas. God has been immensely good this year and I can only claim positivity and more blessings for 2018. Remember to give thanks.
