Turning Heads in Black & White

By Posted on 5 2 m read 27 views
As fun as colour-blocking is, there gets that time when you simply just feel like donning your favourite black trousers and white top for the day. Problem is, how do you wear black and white without people mistaking you for the waiter at a restaurant??? Pulling off monochrome looks can be quite tricky at times but here are a few pointers on how to turn heads in black and white.
Monochrome outfits usually convey seriousness, formal meetings and appointments. One way to carry a strong black and white look is to look well polished, mature and expensive. If you know what I mean. Ditch the casual backpacks and satchel bags for a more classy looking leather tote. Ditch the cotton tops for a sexy chiffon/silk blouse. Make-up should appear minimal but tactfully applied enough to stand out. Add a pair of heels for effect.

Miranda Kerr knows exactly what I am talking about. This look is office ready yet there is plenty glam in it.

Nice bag too. Ten over ten on this look.

Another way to add punk to any black and white outfit is to break the monochrome with accessories of different colours. A brightly coloured shoe, a print purse or a sparkly belt will break the formal tones that any black and white look may carry.

Nifesimi's heels adds colour to her monochrome outfit

Rihanna's print clutch bag adds all the colour she needs.

Angela Simmons adds a bright clutch to her outfit

Leona Lewis cinches with a bright waist band.

Nicole Richie. Absolutely love how she has styled this outfit.

For a more relaxed monochrome look, Why not try rocking a mini?

Kim Kardashian

The right accessories and make-up also help make any black and white ensemble stand out.

Ciara accessorizes with a standout neck piece

Amber Rose glams up this ensemble with statement jewellery and make-up

Kourtney's glittery disco ball clutch adds zest to her look.

Any monochrome look can be instantly ‘glamified’ by adding a leather biker jacket.

Instead of going for the traditional white shirt, black jacket; why not try switching things up? Try the inverse for a monochrome look with a difference.

June Ambrose rocks a white blazer and personalizes her look with a turban.

Personalize your black and white and white ensemble by showing off your unique style. A retro blouse, funky hat, or trousers in tribal prints will add personality to your look.

Nifesimi plays up her monochrome outfit with print leggings, a bright scarf and unique fringe bag.

Solange Knowles makes a statement by adding a turban to her look.

  • […] I am introducing a new segment to my blog posts which is basically a countdown of all most of my favourite looks from a particular celeb, style icon or blogger. This is different because it not only highlights modern style but throws us back to some of those outfits that we might have loved back then but have forgotten. Why 12? Well nothing special about the number really. I was singing the 12 Days of Christmas to my self and just decided to settle for the number:) I might alter the figure with time though. Believe me there are some style icons for whom I can name 50 outfits in a row that I have liked so far (Solange Knowles be warned), but I’ll keep it short an simple nevertheless. My first Top 12 spotlight is Miranda Kerr, Australian wife, mother and model. The 29 year Victoria’s Secret Angel and spouse to Orlando Bloom is the epitome of effortless chic in itself. Man, this girl can rock a pair of pants like there’s no tomorrow. Maybe it’s the model and long legs factor, but she makes even the simplest of looks very chic and effortless. Here are my Top 12 Miranda Kerr looks.   1.Monochrome I love the simplicity of this look. She makes a simple white blouse and leather pants very classy.
