We all know I’m addicted to lists by now.
Blogging is about sharing. So the first thing that pops into my head the minute I stumble upon something is, I HAVE to share this with my readers!
Being on an attempt at a natural journey, it’s no wonder that I have considered dreadlocks as a hairstyle. But then again, I’ve heard, more than a hundred times really, how boring they get after a while. Assuming, you don’t have as much freedom to play with weaves, extensions, relaxed, cropped and all other different hairstyles, some people are bound to feel stuck to wearing the same style every damn time. First of all, almost everyone hates being restricted to the same style over long periods. Second of all, that is entirely false and mythical. I have seen locked sisters rock the most unexpected and innovative styles that make me want to wear my nappy hair in locks. These are the perfect alternative for a Body Wave U Part Wig. If you are one of those who is running out of ideas on how to wear your dreadlocks or if you want to start keeping them, here’s a post to inspire you. Here’s a tonne of stunning ladies who I just had to make another list about. While you’re at it, find out how to maintain your dreadlocks. But first, let’s get into these warloc’d beauties:
Pop Ya Colour
We all know the quickest and easiest way to add some spice to an old style is to dye it! See what these ladies did:
1.
Claire Sulmers of Fashion Bomb Daily has the cutest dreads ever! I love how she made them stand out with the pop of platinum blonde.

Buns are great way to keep locs coiffed and neat especially if you’re dressing up for a special event:) Playing with voluminous buns against neat edges is always fun.

Be brave and try shaving off some sides of your locs. This might be tricky if you are not ready to chop off the rest of your locs when you get tired of rocking the shaved sides. The new short sides might be hard to manage once they start growing out. But if you’re going to stick with the low sides for quite a while, then what’s to stop you?!

July 3, 2014This post was just incredible. I didn’t even KNOW that many styles could be done with dreads, but then I was never really taught that you could do things with your locks and I’m not sure I’d even be bothered if I knew (Sometimes I find maintainence of my hair a headache) Soo…. thanks! No more simple ponytails.
I wish some of the images came with instructions though!

Error?! Say what?!
No way, MSAIDYL you don’t need to apologize.
Thank you first of all for the collection of beautiful people with beautifully styled hair. I’m always trying to find inspiration and new ideas of how to style my hair (I currently have thick shoulder length locs) and for years I’d do an image search for ‘dreadlocks’ and have to wade through image after image after image of white people with locs before I found someone who looked like me (that specific search still yields similar results to this day). It’s only recently that Google has now categorized the image search for ‘dreadlock styles’ into 1) White Women 2) Braid 3) Wale 4) Weddings 5) White Men 6) Mohawk… sure the majority of images are of black people with styled hair… but that’s the actual listing above…. not even kidding, go check.
This is a fashion blog predominantly about black women, and locs are predominantly worn by black people. You generously included a few men and the one “fierce” white woman, so there is no need to apologize.

October 21, 2014I love my locks. I have never been so in love with myself and my hair until I went natural about 7 years ago. I always had really nice thick and strong hair so I did not have a problem locking my hair at all. It is nice to see that so many sisters are now going natural and loving it. I would also like to say thank you to all those involve in promoting and sharing this site.

November 28, 2014Hi, my name is Doris & I live in Nigeria. Pls where can I find real appearing dreadlocks? I want something that looks since I don’t want to dread my natural hair. These styles are so inspiring!

May 2, 2015The underlying message within the images is to embrace you natural state of hair. Requesting how to get false loc s defeats the point. Hopefully we will progress to stop referring to loc s as dreadloc s

January 31, 2019OMG…Gorgeous styles. Dreadlocks are forever sexy. But you have to agree that they are really hard to maintain. When taken care of it well, those come out beautiful…..Though I got some good suggestions through here: https://www.fairnessco.com/blog/easy-tips-and-tricks-on-how-to-maintain-dreadlocks/
